  • Switzerland offers one of the best public transport systems in the world consisting of trains, buses, boats, lake steamers, and cable cars. Traveling in Switzerland is super easy, roads and highways are well maintained, and getting around by car is an alternative if you don’t want to ride the trains (although we do suggest using the trains for affordability).

  • The best time to visit Switzerland is between April and October, though winter sports enthusiasts may prefer December to March. Switzerland has four distinct seasons, the warmest summer months are June, July and August.

  • Theft: Switzerland is known as one of the safest countries in Europe but no place is ever completely crime free. Pay particular attention when in large crowds of pickpocketing.

Weather: Always check at the hotel or with a tourist office regarding weather in the mountains or possible areas where avalanches might occur.

High altitudes: Always take the time to ascend when traveling to high altitudes. This will give the body time to adjust when traveling to mountainous areas.

Travel insurance: Individuals may want to purchase travel insurance before heading to Switzerland, especially if you’re heading there to do adventure activities. We use World Nomad travel insurance.

  • Alpen Resort Hotel, Zermatt

  • The four national languages of Switzerland are German, French, Italian and Romansh. English is the most common non-national language and is regularly spoken by 45% of the population in Switzerland. English is more widespread in the German-speaking part of the country than in Italian- and French-speaking regions

  • For a single ticket entry, the Harder Kulm viewpoint left something to be desired at SUCH A HIGH PRICE POINT!

The the high funicular price is included in a larger Switzerland pass. If you already have the pass, the view is certainly amazing and worth the ride up.
