In this 25 minute travel vlog we drive from Split to Dubrovnik during a 7 day trip. Stops along the way include: Plitvice Lakes, Split, Makarska, Krka Waterfalls and Dubrovnik.
We would recommend at least 7 days for this Croatia Itinerary. The drive along the coast is stunning and the Croatian tollways are very nice and easy to drive on.
This trip is an extension of our road trip from Austria through Slovenia.

The Diemers begin their road trip back to Munich with the goal of reaching Oktoberfest in time after enjoying a great week in Dubrovnik.
First however, they must contend with a traffic block on a remote mountain road in Croatia and race to clock to make the ferry in time. Afterwards, they continue their drive in their trusty Opal Corsa to Krka Waterfalls and the Skocjan Caves in Slovenia.
Sidenote: Krka waterfalls VS Plitvice Lakes- If you can only do one, know that you can swim in Krka waterfalls. While it’s teeming with other tourists, it’s also an absolute blast and set in a beautiful national park. Plitvice Lakes are a much more tranquil and hands off experience, although they are surrounded by great hiking paths.
If you truly want to soak up the culture, the most direct way is by soaking up the local spirits. In the spirit of taking a break from traveling while they…..travel… the Diemers invest in the cheapest bottle of Loza they can find and get to work learning about this unknown Croatian treasure.
Later, fueled by spirits, they ring in Tims 33rd birthday by kicking children off of swim platforms, going parasailing, and taking their Phantom 3 “Chappie” for a sunset flight in Makarska.
When in Croatia, you might as well look for Daenerys dragons. After an incredible day at Plitvice Lakes, the Diemers continue their March south and make a stop in Split.
Between stuffing kabobs in their gobs, they make time to visit nerd dream destinations such as Fortress Klis and Diocletian's palace. While they don't find any dragons, they do learn that the palace is really just kind of a sewer, but all the sewage is long gone (which is nice).
At Fortress Klis they find other tourists in search of their own Khaleesis. While the Unburnt, Breaker of Chains, Mother of Dragons is nowhere to be found, Fortress Klis is the ultimate self guided castle experience.
Tripped is a peek into our one year, round the world journey where we ungraciously shoved cameras in each others faces the entire time. We wanted to record the good, the bad, and the reality of travel. What did we discover? High highs and low lows.
For every white sand beach, there was a tour hawker screaming at you to buy a whale shark tour.
For every sunset over the mountains, a cloud of sandfly vampires with bloodlust in their hearts.
There are experiences so crazy beautiful that a heavily filtered pic from Instagram would never do it justice.
There are also experiences out there that are just crazy. Or scary. Or that you walk away from thinking “I hope I never do this specific thing in my life again”.
Episode format? Fast and furious, but with less Diesel. Could be 5 minutes, could be 15. Expect chuckles and adventure every week via slick edited and colorful commentary.
Croatia is beautiful and we had a blast checking out Game of Thrones shooting locations. The Old City in Dubrovnik was epic in itself, but we had the best time at Fortress of Klis.
Visit us on our website to learn more about Croatia and the Game of Thrones filming locations:
The fortress has a real "hands off" attitude in letting you explore. We felt free to climb all over and have wooden sword battles with other tourists.
