1 Week Croatia Road Trip
In this 25 minute travel vlog we drive from Split to Dubrovnik during a 7 day trip. Stops along the way include: Plitvice Lakes, Split, Makarska, Krka Waterfalls and Dubrovnik.
We would recommend at least 7 days for this Croatia Itinerary. The drive along the coast is stunning and the Croatian tollways are very nice and easy to drive on.

How to Spend a 12 Hour Istanbul Layover
ISTANBUL LAYOVER - Tour Istanbul in a day
After a cold and rainy visit in Poland, the Diemers make the most out of a long layover in Istanbul. Initially planning on taking the free bus tour of the city, a series of delayed flights and jetlag influenced decisions had them missing out on the complimentary tour by 5 minutes. Rats.
When life hands you lemons, the only thing to do is make martinis with lemon twists. Sucking it up, the Diemers put their sleep deprived minds at work to figure out public transportation to the city and salvage the day.
Conducting their own tour of the city, the first stop is of course the Blue Mosque. And then the next mosque. And then the next. There are a lot of mosques in Istanbul.
Next, Tim demands a tour of The Basilica Cistern. Allison makes it quite clear that she has no interest in going underground to a “big water tank I don't even know what it is”. In an amazing turn of events, it's the highlight of the trip in Istanbul.
Finally, a tour of the Istanbul Spice Market is in order. Sellers and shopowners frown openly at the hordes of tourists walking through the spice market, shoving gopros toward all the colorful goods but clearly not interested in purchasing anything. It's an Instagram goldmine.
What else happens in Istanbul? Diemers learn that mosque speakers are super loud, a tradition that will continue as they journey East.

Oktoberfest Munich & Nurnburg, Germany
IN THIS VIDEO:
VISITING VOLKSFEST IN NUREMBERG
Failing at the S-bahn system we decide to rent bicycles to head down to Volksfest: a fair that is held once a year in the fall. Getting drunk and riding carnival rides in the shadow of a Nazi monument only exaggerates our curiosity. The next morning we head to the Nuremberg Documentation Center (Dokumentationszentrum) and Zeppelin Grounds (Zeppelinfeld) to see the Nazi Rally Grounds (Reichsparteitagsgelände). On day 3 we go back in time and visit the medieval dungeons under the old town hall and realize we really should have studied more German before we arrived.
OKTOBERFEST MUNICH
Finally! Oktoberfest in Munich! Having a proper "Mas" (Maß) of beer while sitting in a tent in Munich has been a long time item on the Diemers' bucket list. Oktoberfest turns out to live up to the hype as the Diemers quickly make new friends and sing along with the alcohol-fueled crowd.
The surprise highlight on the day is no doubt the Teufelsrad (Devil’s Wheel). Basically, it’s a motorized merry go round built to spin around drunk Oktoberfest go-ers. If the spinning doesn’t kick you off, the difficulty ramps up as swinging padded cannon-balls are launched at your head in an effort to knock you off your balance.
Following a great day at Oktoberfest, the Diemers take in Munich/Munchen by visiting BMW Welt and Olympiapark. After a great time in Central Europe, it’s time to hit the airport to take off for warmer adventures.

Exploring Slovenian Caves
IN THIS VIDEO:
LAKE BLED
Tim comes to grips with the fact there is a country named Slovenia just to the south of Austria. They visit the scenic Lake Bled to swim in ice cold waters.
SKOCJAN CAVES SLOVENIA
The Diemers are not able to believe that the caves are real and not part of Disney world.

Best of Salzburg and Surrounding Area
SALZBERG
Jet lagged at 4am we spontaneously decide to road trip to Croatia (Germany was too cold, duh). With only 3 hours of sleep but a liter of "Power Up" we get ready to tackle the day. To our surprise we can't even get out of the country before we need a nap. When the weather turns poor so does our moods and Allison declares she is the "happiest she's ever been to find a McDonnalds". Alls well that ends well: the next day touring the city of Salzburg was totally worth the trip! Talk about detour!
GOLLINGER WATERFALL
On their way south, the Diemers visit Gollinger Waterfall (Golling Wasserfall). Little do they know that it would be their favorite wasserfall in the entirety of the trip.

An Action-Packed Week in Dubai
WHAT WENT WRONG - Dubai Dune Bashing Tour
Finally! Time for Dubai! After dipping their toes in the unfamiliar city of Istanbul, Dubai represents a place completely unfamiliar to both of the Diemers. The only knowledge they have going in is that there is a really tall building and it’s super hot there.
Turns out, Dubai has been built from the sand-up to be a tourist destination of the next century. Endless clean beaches, desert sun, shopping malls that are attractions in themselves, Burj Al Arab, Burj Khalifa, Old Dubai, Dubai Fountain, Mall of the Emirates, water parks like Wild Wadi, Boat rides across the Dubai Creek…..the list goes on and on.
The Diemers spend a week in Dubai and still don’t have enough time to do half the things on the Must Do List for Dubai. They quickly fall in love with Kite Beach and find they have to tear themselves away in order to do anything else while in town. Kite Beach is incredibly well kept and the cleanest sand they’ll visit in most of the world. The water, while not Philippines clear, is clean and bathwater warm.
Dubai is home to world renowned architecture, but it’s some of the smaller hidden treasures of the city that hold the most charm. A day spent walking around Old Dubai can be a cheap adventure- great food and lots of interesting shops to poke your head around in. Additionally, a quick walk through Deira Fish Market will have you questioning just how many sharks one city can eat.
Tim, a simple man at best, was most impressed with the food that can be found in Dubai. The Diemers went to Ravi Restaurant once a day for a week, and on one day, three separate occasions. Ravi Restaurant serves up Pakistani food, which Tim didn’t even know was it’s own special thing. Turns out, Pakistani food is awesome-spicy enough to make your nose sweat.
The Diemers wrap things up with a desert safari that sets a tone of disappointing tours for the rest of the trip. What was promised? Dune bashing, sandboarding, camel rides, dinner and a show. What was delivered? Apathy and sadness. (The dune bashing part was pretty sweet though.)

A Weekend Making... Soap? (and other silly things) in Poland
IN THIS EPISODE:
After a late night arrival in Warsaw, they hop aboard the most luxurious $5 cross country bus ride they’ll see the entire trip.
Arriving in Bydgoszcz, the Diemers meet up with Allison's cousin Megan- who is on exchange through the Rotary Youth Exchange Program- who takes them on a whirlwind tour of the city, culminating in the top rated Tripadvisor attraction Museum of Soap and History of Dirt. The Museum of Soap turns out to be more fun than could have been anticipated. The group has fun beating each other with sticks, making custom soap gifts for Grammi that would never make it home, and learning about how humans slowly became less gross thanks to the magic of soap.
Rounding out the site seeing, they trio takes walks along Mill’s Island, checks out the Tightrope Walker sculpture, Old Market Square, and Bydgoski Channel. Unfortunately, while Bydgoszcz was beautiful, weather didn’t cooperate and it was impossible to put the drone up for the duration of time spent there.

Booze Cruise Gone Wrong in Cyprus (and Historical Ruins)
IN THIS EPISODE:
Where is Cyprus? Tim and Fin weren't too sure in today's episode but $45 USD round trip flights from Athens had them immediately jumping on a plane. Turns out, it’s Cancun for Brits.
What is there to do in Paphos, Cyprus? Wander around lost in the Tombs of Kings in Paphos and make stupid jokes about being tomb raiders.
To further their cultural enrichment, the Diemers book passage aboard a booze cruise. The boat navigates quickly by anything interesting, such as the world famous sea caves of Cyprus, while bartenders push cheap gin at tourists.
